Morris County Pride 2022

Morris County Pride, since its initiation, has been a family friendly event focused on providing awareness on local resources and a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community to be their  unapologetic, beautiful, authentic selves. 

Due to the pandemic, the inaugural Morris County Pride event was held as a Drive-in Drag Movie night. In 2021, the event was a roaring in-person celebration. This year, the Morris County Pride festival will be located at the County College of Morris ("CCM"), located at 214 Center Grove Rd off Route 10 in Randolph, on Saturday, June 25th. The all-day event will include, live entertainment, food vendors, a beer garden, as well as  various local affirming vendors.

Sean Dorsa, from EDGE New Jersey, along with Cara Parmigiani, initiated the first MC Pride festival. "We knew we needed to celebrate and be visible for the LGBTQ+ community, especially LGBTQ+ youth," said Dorsa. EDGE NJ is Morris County's first and only full-service LGBTQ+ center. Parmigiani pointed out that "despite gains in recent years, too many in the LGBTQ+ community are in need of assistance and access to supportive resources. We have to keep advocating for people's rights." 

“As the community’s college, CCM celebrates the opportunity to partner with Morris County Pride and looks forward to this exciting event on our campus.” Said CCM’s President, Dr. Anthony J. Iacono of the event.

True to its name, Morris County Pride is not only a fun day of celebration; it also connects the community to valuable resources from health to education to employment and goes a long way to enhance their lived equality. "It's been a successful event every year, and as it continues to grow from year to year, we see more of the community and allies coming out to join in the festivities, making this a truly family-friendly event," said Parmigiani. 

Morris County Pride provides a safe space for the LGBTQ+ Community and their allies to socialize and be themselves in a stigma-free supportive environment. Both the 2020 Pride and last year's event sold out quickly, so keep an eye out for the release of tickets at Morris County Pride 2022 on Facebook.
